The quantification of stress in wildlife research often involves measuring the levels of glucocorticoids, a class of steroid hormones. Traditionally, levels of glucocorticoids and other hormones have been assessed through blood sampling, but this invasive method can potentially influence the results due to the stress of capture and handling. Non-invasive approaches allow for the measurement from sources such as faeces, hair or saliva.
